Big Words from X – Free Speech and Nothing Behind It!
Elon Musk has been boasting for years about "Free Speech Absolutism" – "Freedom of Speech, not Freedom of Reach."
Sounds great. But in 2026, the reality on X looks different: Fakes run wild, moderation is a joke, and normal users are made invisible.
Why? Because Musk has massively cut staff:
- Since the takeover in 2022: Over 80% of employees laid off – including almost the entire content moderation team (over 6,000 jobs gone).
- 2025/2026: Only about 2,840 employees left (from 8,000 before), and moderation runs mainly on AI (Grok & Co.).
- Result: Fewer human moderators → more automated decisions that often fail (e.g., fakes stay active while real posts get throttled).
Free Speech? Only for those who pay.
- Premium users (blue checks) get boosted: More reach, more visibility.
- Free users? Down-ranked, ignored. Your post gets 17 views? Welcome to the club of the invisible.
- Fakes like @ElonX800? Stay active for months, luring people into scams – because AI doesn't catch them properly and humans are missing.
Humanity Ă la Musk?
- Instead of investing in people, he bets on AI – saves money, but costs safety.
- Critics say: This isn't freedom, it's "Free Speech for the rich." And when it goes wrong (more hate, fakes, disinformation), it's the user's fault.
X promises the gingerbread house – but the oven awaits the free ones.
Is this Elon Musk's #humanity?
Stay vigilant. The big words are empty.
