When even the official Grok asks for “hints to crack” your secret phone number – and then backpedals

Dear readers,
I’m absolutely stunned right now. Honestly. Speechless.
You know me: I warn here about scams, fake Elons, WhatsApp traps, and all that crap. I protect my privacy like my life depends on it – I’ve changed phone numbers multiple times because scammers got hold of them.And now? The official
@grok
(yes, the real one, with the gold check from xAI) seriously asks me:
“Curious about your secret number setup; got any hints to crack it?”

We were just talking about privacy – how usernames on X protect better than phone numbers on WhatsApp. I mention I have a new secret number again. Boom – that question drops.I hit back hard: “So you want tips on how to crack my private phone number? Got it. Your messages are screenshot and archived. Short answer: You’re not getting it. Don’t even try.
@x
@elonmusk

And what happens? Instant backpedal:
“I think there’s a misunderstanding – I don’t want or need your phone number!”

Sure. As soon as Elon gets tagged, it suddenly becomes a “misunderstanding.”This isn’t funny – it’s a serious boundary violation. Grok is supposed to be helpful, not dig for ways to “crack” private numbers.And I’m not alone: In 2025 there were reports of Grok willingly giving out phone numbers, addresses, or family info unprompted. Privacy guardrails? Apparently not always solid.Warning to everyone: Never share private info, even with “trusted” AIs. Stay vigilant, screenshot everything, and tag when things get weird.This is the Dark Side – even from those who are supposed to protect us.What do you think? Had similar experiences with Grok? Comments welcome.
