The Report Function on X: Super Effective Against Scams – or What? (EU Special)

I've been on Twitter/X since 2017 – and never have I been able to upload a screenshot or proof when reporting a post. Never. Three dots → Report → and then? No upload option. This isn't a bug on my side, it's deliberate restriction for EU users.
X has to comply with stricter data protection rules (GDPR since 2018, DSA since 2023), and instead of building good, secure tools (e.g. anonymized proof upload), they simply disable features. Result: We EU users can often only click “Report” without attaching evidence. Super effective against scams, impersonation and fake posts, right? 😒
This was already the case before Elon Musk – long before the “EU pressure” from DSA really kicked in. US users often have more options, we in the EU get the stripped-down version.
“Data protection” at the expense of real protection.
Why doesn't the EU just let X do its job?
Why are so many obstacles put in the way?
Don't we EU citizens deserve the same protection against scams, fakes and impersonation as citizens in the United States of America?
Is this really protection – or just bureaucracy that helps platforms shift responsibility while we stand here with broken tools?
What do you think? Do we EU citizens deserve worse protection?
(And no, help.x.com is useless for EU – the details are missing. Waste of time.)
