The Dark Side of X: Fakes and Trolls Luring Users to Telegram – Why I Still Stand Behind X

Dear readers,
The flood of fake accounts on X (formerly Twitter) just doesn't stop. As soon as the platform deletes a few, twice as many pop up again. It's frustrating, but I fully stand behind X and Elon Musk's vision of a platform for free speech – as long as it's fair and transparent. Today, I'd like to introduce you to two particularly brazen examples of Telegram trolls who use X merely as a launchpad to lure unsuspecting users into the poorly moderated depths of Telegram. That's where the real scams, rip-offs, or worse happen. Let's take a closer look.Example 1: The "Chinese Musk" from HungaryTake the account
@muskchinese1
(or
@muskchines91271
, depending on the variant). This fake has an impressive 891 posts, follows 848 accounts, and has 30 followers. Joined in August 2025, it lures people with a link to Telegram: https://t.me/Revee00079. According to the X profile, the location is listed as Hungary.

What does this account do? It retweets a lot to gain attention and then directs users straight to Telegram. Honestly, it's embarrassingly easy to create such accounts. With a VPN, you can bypass any restrictions, and you're online in no time. But is this really someone from Hungary? Highly unlikely – the profile location is almost certainly fake, just like the rest. These kinds of scam accounts often originate from completely different regions (common hotspots for such frauds include parts of Africa or Asia), using VPNs to hide their true location and pretend to be anywhere.
Why does X allow this? This is where the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA) comes into play. The DSA is an EU law that requires platforms like X to take action against illegal content, disinformation, and scams.
Large platforms must implement transparent moderation systems, assess risks, and even undergo independent audits. In Germany, the Bundesnetzagentur oversees compliance. The issue: Accounts like
@muskchinese1
are just a "transit station" on X.
They post seemingly harmless content to lure users to Telegram, where the actual scam takes place. Telegram is notorious for its lax moderation – my own reports there remain unanswered to this day. In contrast, X at least responds to reports eventually. But does this fit with the DSA? Why are links to poorly moderated platforms allowed to remain if they clearly lead to scams? I've reported this multiple times to the Bundesnetzagentur and DSA authorities – and? No response. Zero. It shows how bureaucratic and slow these agencies are. X pays fines for DSA violations, while the real scammers operate undisturbed on Telegram. That needs to change!Example 2: The "Lisa Musk" from Nigeria?Even more blatant is
@lisasa11256
. This account has exactly 0 posts, follows one account, and has one follower. Joined in November 2025, with a bio text: "KINDLY SEND A DIRECT MESSAGE TO ME ON TELEGRAM" and a link to http://t.me/groklonmusk8. The profile lists "Austin, TX" as the location, but the link and style scream classic scam pattern – probably from Nigeria or similar regions. Lisa or Elon Musk? Let's agree on Telegram troll.

Here it's especially obvious: No content on X, just a pure lure attempt. The "Austin in Nigeria" touch is almost funny – as if anyone would fall for that. But seriously: These accounts use X as an advertising platform for Telegram scams. And again: Where's the DSA? The EU regulation is supposed to protect against exactly this kind of manipulation by requiring platforms to remove illegal content and inform users. Yet in practice, X bears the main burden, while Telegram gets away scot-free. My reports to the Bundesnetzagentur? Ignored. That's frustrating, but it doesn't change my support for X: The platform trains its AI on stricter rules and takes action when it matters – unlike Telegram, where chaos reigns.My Recommendation: Report, Block, and Stay Vigilant!For both accounts (and all similar ones): Report them on X! Block them! This helps keep the platform clean. X is, despite all issues, the better alternative – stricter rules apply here, and moderation actually works to some extent. Telegram? A wild west where scammers run rampant.
But let's be fair: X needs to do more to detect and stop these lure accounts. And the DSA authorities? Wake up! Your inaction leaves users in the lurch. I stand behind X because it has the potential to fight the "dark side" – but only if we all help.
That's enough for today. I'm now testing my second AI and preparing for the next bot waves.
Stay safe out there, and remain alert!Your Whistleblower
