Is Meta (Facebook) Now Following X's Example – and Becoming Just as Bad?

😒

Right after Christmas was over, I just wanted to check on Facebook who I still needed to send greetings to – and boom: my Messenger inbox exploded with disgusting spam messages: explicit nude videos, porn images, and scam links.

Dozens per day. As always: took screenshots, tried to report them directly. No chance.

The report function was disabled or simply didn’t work. So I didn’t do things by halves – I filed an official DSA complaint directly with the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), the national DSA coordinator.

and here is the complete email I sent two days ago:

Subject: Complaint against Meta (Facebook/Messenger) for systematic distribution of illegal content (porn spam/nude images) – Violation of the DSA

Dear Sir or Madam,

I hereby file a complaint as an affected user against Meta Platforms Ireland Limited (Facebook/Messenger) because the platform is massively distributing illegal content (non-consensual nude images, porn spam with scam links) in message requests and is taking no effective action.

Description of the problem:

  • Message requests (spam folder) are flooded with requests from fake accounts containing explicit nude images and videos in unambiguous poses, often with malware links or scam intent.
  • This has been happening explosively since the holidays (Christmas 2025) – dozens per day.
  • Marking as spam only helps briefly; new accounts appear immediately.
  • This violates DSA obligations: rapid removal of illegal content (Art. 16 DSA), user-friendly reporting channels, and protection against systemic risks.

Attachments: Screenshots of the requests (blacked out for sensitive areas but clearly recognizable as illegal porn spam). I request examination and forwarding to the responsible authority (e.g. Irish DSC, as Meta is based in Ireland).

The platform is ignoring the problem while users are being harassed.

Best regards

Here are the same blacked-out screenshots I attached to the complaint:

(The messages contained explicit nude videos/photos with texts like 'fuck me baby' or invitations to groups named 'Room Full of Passion' or 'My Live Cams Room' – typical porn scam.)

And X just has to pay fines??

In December 2025, X received its first DSA fine of €120 million – for deceptive Blue Checks, lack of ad transparency, and denied researcher access. But the fakes and scams keep running?

Meta? So far no DSA fine for porn spam or broken reporting (only ongoing investigations).

Instead, a €200 million DMA fine in April 2025 for “pay or consent”.

What degree do you actually need to study to understand this nonsense?

Or is it ultimately just about money for the platforms – and for DSA enforcement?

What do you think?
